DOSAGE FORM: Capsules.

PRESENTATION: Box of 2 blisters x 10 capsules.

PHARMACODYNAMICS:

Cefdinir 300mg, an antibiotic containing the cephem core, is an extended spectrum, third generation cephalosporin for oral administration. It has activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. The antibacterial properties of Cefdinir comes from its action on the inhibition of bacteria cell wall synthesis. Cefdinir 300 mg is not affected by the beta-lactamase enzymes. It has good antibacterial properties against gram-positive bacteria e.g Staphylococcus sp., Streptococcus sp. resistant to pre-existing cephalosporin antibiotics for oral administration.

PHARMACOKINETICS:

Cefdinir 300mg is widely distributed into tissues and body fluids, penetrates well into the cerebrospinal fluid. It is metabolized in the liver and excreted mainly via the kidneys.

INDICATIONS:

Community acquired pneumonia, acute course of chronic bronchitis, acute sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, hair folliculitis, paronychial inflammation, ulcer, hypodermic abscesses, blood vessel inflammation or lymphnoditis. Nephritis, pyelitis and cystitis, metritis.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Hypersensitivity to any components of the drug or Cephalosporin antibiotics.

PRECAUTIONS:

Allergic to penicillin or other drugs. A history of colitis.

Children under 6 months of age.

PREGNANCY AND LACTATION:

Use with caution in pregnant women and breast-feeding mothers.

INTERACTIONS:

Cefdinir 300mg ’s bioavailability may be reduced when the drug is co-prescribed with iron-containing preparations.

ADVERSE EFFECTS:

Rarely: nausea, vomitting, colic, anorexia, constipation, headache, drowsiness, mouth inflammation, fungal infection, deficiency of vitamin K and the B-group vitamins, hypoleukocytosis, increase in hepatic enzyme levels, increase in blood urea nitrogen (BUN).

Inform your physician about any adverse effects occur during the treatment.

OVERDOSAGE:

Overdosage symptoms of Cefdinir include: nausea, vomitting, epigastralgia.

Treatment of symtomps and exclusion of the drug from the body. Hemodialysis can be practiced to eliminate the drug from the body.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION:

Adults and children aged over 12 years: 1 capsule x 2 times/day, once every 12 hours.

Individual suffered from renal impairment (Clcr < 30 ml/min): 1 capsule x 1 time/day.
